2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers will pick twice in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, after swinging a deal with the New Orleans Saints during the 2018 NFL Draft. With their first of two first rounders, Green Bay should look to bolster the defensive side of the ball, and they should focus their attention at the edge rusher position.
Luckily for Green Bay, there are a ton of solid edge rushers in this draft class, and they should be able to get an immediate starter, even with the No. 12 overall pick. One player who should be called in the first half of the first round is Jachai Polite from Florida, who has the kind of motor you look for in a pass rusher.
Polite is a guy who has the skill set to be a double-digit sack guy at the NFL level, and this Packers defense could certainly use help in that department. If this team is ever going to get over the hump, they have to be better on defense, because even a healthy Aaron Rodgers has led them to only one Super Bowl win in his time as the starter.
Green Bay has a brand new head coach this season, as the team decided to part ways with Mike McCarthy during the 2018 NFL season. It will be interesting to see how Rodgers gets along with his new head coach, because he had a terrible relationship with McCarthy towards the end of his tenure with the team, and this relationship is the most important thing for the franchise moving forward.
