2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins are another team that is bringing in a new head coach, as they got rid of Adam Gase after a three-year run as the team’s head coach. Gase did lead the team to the playoffs, which has become a rarity on South Beach, and now Brian Flores will be tasked with making this team a playoff contender once again.
Flores comes to the Dolphins via New England, where he spent last season calling the plays for Bill Belichick’s defense. He was in New England for 15 years, so he brings incredible knowledge, and experience to a team that plays in the same division as the Patriots, who have dominated the AFC East the last 20 years.
While the Dolphins certainly need a quarterback, as they appear to be moving away from Ryan Tannehill, they may wait until the 2020 NFL Draft to get one. The 2020 NFL Draft is loaded with arms, and if the Dolphins do not trade up to get either Kyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins early on, they will have a solid pick of quarterbacks next April.
In this draft, Miami may look to target the edge rusher spot, as Cameron Wake is getting up there in age, and needs to be replaced eventually. Brian Burns from Florida State is a guy who can come in and dominate in year one, and a defensive coach like Flores will like nothing more than to add a defensive talent with his first ever first round pick.
