2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Atlanta Falcons were an NFC team that really disappointed last season, as they failed to make the playoffs after being a Super Bowl team two years prior. After the 2017 NFL season, the Falcons made the playoffs once again, but were bounced in the Divisional Round by the Philadelphia Eagles.
In 2018, things just could not get on track for Atlanta, as they lost star running back Devonta Freeman after the second game of the season. The offense struggled without him, and the defense failed to get stops on a consistent basis, leading the Falcons to a very surprising 7-9 record overall.
This offseason, the Falcons main free agent is defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who many believe will test the free agency waters. If the team can bring back Jarrett, they should look to add an edge rusher in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and Montez Sweat would be a nice addition to this team moving forward.
In 2018, the Falcons draft Takkarist McKinley, who played great as a rookie, but has had to deal with some off the field issues since the season ended. In addition, Vic Beasley Jr. has not been the dominant force that he was early in his career, so while edge rusher is not an immediate need, Sweat may be too goo to pass up at No. 14 overall.
