2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Tennessee Titans attempted to make it back to the playoffs for a second straight season in 2018, but lost their grip on a Wild Card spot in Week 17. Playing host to the Indianapolis Colts, the Titans could not take care of business, and after a nice playoff run in 2017, will have to go back to the drawing board this offseason.
It is not all bad, however, for the Titans, as they have one of the better young quarterbacks in football in Marcus Mariota. Mariota not only proved two seasons ago that he can win in the playoffs, but win on the road, as the Titans went into Arrowhead Stadium in the Wild Card round and beat the Kansas City Chiefs.
Heading into 2019, there is a lot to like about this roster, and they should be in the mix in a very competitive AFC South once again. On the offensive side of the ball, they could look to bring in a new franchise tight end, as Delanie Walker is getting up there in age, and Jonnu Smith is not ready to step into that role yet.
T.J. Hockenson from Iowa should be the first tight end off the board in April, and Mariota would like nothing more than to throw to an athletic target like him. He could learn from Walker early in his career, and then step in as the No. 1 option at the position, as he has all the intangibles you look for in a pass-catching tight end.
