42. . Edge. Kentucky. Josh Allen. 2. player

The San Francisco 49ers will have the No. 2 overall pick in 2019, as they look to erase the memories of a lost 2018 season. The 49ers went into the 2018 campaign with high hopes, after inking Jimmy Garoppolo to a long-term deal, but everything went downhill in a hurry, starting in the preseason.

Running back Jerick McKinnon, who the team brought in during the offseason to be their feature back, tore up his knee in the preseason, and Garoppolo soon followed during the regular season. From there, the 49ers just could not put winning football on the field on a consistent basis, and ended up winning only four games.

This is year three of the Kyle Shanahan-John Lynch marriage, and many expected a solid 2018 after running off five straight victories to close out 2019. They have the talent on both sides of the ball to be competitive in 2019, and the hope is they can hit a home run with the No. 2 pick in this April’s draft.

That pick should be Josh Allen, a good-looking edge rusher from the University of Kentucky. During his time with the Wildcats, Allen established himself as an almost unblockable player, and capped off his college career by absolutely terrorizing the Penn State offensive line in the Wildcats bowl game victory over the Nittany Lions.
