2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Philadelphia Eagles made another solid run to the playoffs this past season, and once again did it with their backup quarterback under center. For the second straight year, Nick Foles replaced Carson Wentz as the starting quarterback late in the season due to injury, and led the Eagles all the way to the Divisional Round.
While it was not the Super Bowl run it was the year before, it was still impressive, as the Eagles had to win out in the regular season, and then went on the road and beat the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card round. They ran into a better team in the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round, ending their season, and will head into the offseason with plenty of question marks.
One question that has already been answered is who the quarterback will be moving forward, as the team plans to commit to Carson Wentz moving forward. Wentz was the team’s No. 2 overall pick back in 2016, and when healthy, has shown that he can win games at the NFL level, and be dominant doing so.
As you look at the Eagles roster, they need some help along the offensive line, especially with Jason Peters getting up there in age. They may want to bring in a player like Andre Dillard from Washington State with their first round pick in April, solidifying the left tackle position even after Peters retires.
