2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
With their third and final first round pick in 2019, the Raiders will once again go defense, adding a player to the middle layer of their defensive squad. After adding an edge rusher early, and a cornerback a couple of picks before this one, look for Oakland to bring in a linebacker that could really do some damage in year one.
Devin Bush is the kind of linebacker this team needs, as he has the ability to play sideline to sideline. During his time at Michigan, Bush developed a reputation as being one of the hardest hitting players in the Big Ten, and by adding him to this defense, the Raiders defense would be significantly improved over last season.
Prior to the 2018 season, Oakland brought in Tahir Whitehead to lead the linebacker group, and he certainly did a good job in doing that in year one in the Silver and Black. After winning only four games last season, however, this Raiders roster will look a lot different in year two for Whitehead, but that should be considered a good thing.
Having three first round picks is quite a luxury, but new general manager Mike Mayock cannot afford to miss with any of them. Oakland also has an early second round pick, giving them four picks in the first 40 selections, so if Mayock can do his job in April, this could be a franchise that bounces back in a big way in 2019.
