2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Green Bay Packers will not only pick at No. 12 overall in April, but also at No. 30, as they hold the New Orleans Saints first round pick. Of course, the Saints made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game this past season, decreasing the value of this selection, but the Packers could get a solid player nonetheless.
While the Packers will likely go defense early in round one, as their defense was atrocious at times last season, they may want to bring in a quality tight end late in the first. Noah Fant is one of two Iowa tight ends that should hear his name called in the first round, and he would be a solid fit for this Packers offense.
Aaron Rodgers loves to throw to his tight ends, and in Fant, he would have a young stud at the position. Fant is a guy who is not only a solid blocker, but someone who can really open up the middle of the field, and the Packers certainly need someone who can do that in 2019 and beyond.
Green Bay has a new head coach in town this season, as Matt LaFleur will be taking over for Mike McCarthy, who led this franchise to a Super Bowl title. This is a roster that could see a lot of change with a new head coach in place, and Fant is a guy who could give this offense a wrinkle it has not seen in quite a while.
