2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have a new leader on the sidelines this season, as the team decided it was time to part ways with head coach Dirk Koetter after the 2018 campaign. The new man at the helm will be former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, who is back on the sidelines after a one-year hiatus in the broadcast booth.
Arians’ biggest task in 2019 will be turning around the career of Jameis Winston, whom the organization has certainly stood behind since taking him with the first overall pick in 2014. Winston has shown he can win games at the NFL level, but has not been consistent on, or off the field, so expect him to get all of Arians attention, at least early on.
When it comes to the roster heading into 2019, the Buccaneers have a lot of work to do, and they may want to draft the best player available at No. 5. With the way this draft is shaping up, and quarterbacks going early, a player like Quinnen Williams from Alabama could still be available at five, and that would be an absolute steal.
Williams has the size, and feet to be the next Aaron Donald at the NFL level, and some scouts believe he is the best overall player in this entire draft class. Adding him to a Tampa Bay defensive line that already has some solid edge rushers, and guys like Vita Vea and Gerald McCoy up front would make this unit one of the best in football.
