30. . Offensive Tackle. Alabama. Jonah Williams. 7. player

The New York Jets will trade down in the 2019 NFL Draft, after trading up last year to select their franchise quarterback. In the 2018 NFL Draft, New York traded up to select USC quarterback Sam Darnold, who won the starting job during the summer, and showed flashes that he could be special during his rookie campaign.

Unfortunately for Darnold, he played behind a very mediocre offensive line, and did not have many elite weapons to choose from. When it comes time for the Jets to select in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, they may want to  go out and get him a solid offensive tackle, and Jonah Williams from Alabama is the best player in this draft class at that position.

Williams proved himself to be a dominant force in the SEC during his time with the Crimson Tide, establishing himself as arguably the best offensive tackle in college football. He is a guy who has the size, and feet to stay on the left side at the NFL level, and the Jets would be wise to bring in someone who can protect Darnold’s blindside for the next ten years.

New York has a lot of work to do with this roster this offseason, but protecting Darnold has to be priority No. 1. They have a brand new head coach in Adam Gase, who has worked well with quarterbacks in the past, and the hope is that he is the guy who can help Darnold reach his potential, and Jets fans feel he can be their first real franchise quarterback since Joe Namath.
