Pass Rusher

The Atlanta Falcons pass rush was a disappointment this past year. They saw a drop in production from Vic Beasley which was one major reason for the team’s struggles. Tak McKinley had a strong second season recording seven sacks.

McKinley is someone with high upside who could potentially develop into a a consistent double-digit sack guy. The Falcons need him to develop into that player while keeping hope that Beasley gets his career back on track.

Beasley had once looked like an elite player, but has struggled recently. The Falcons need to find some depth at the position in case Beasley doesn’t find his groove.

This year’s draft class is loaded with pass rushing prospects. Owning the 14th overall pick gives the Falcons plenty of options. Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat would be a great addition and bring a punch to the unit.

Free agency doesn’t offer much help for a team with salary cap issues. The Falcons don’t have funds to land a true impact player at this position. Atlanta’s best hope is for Beasley to return to form and one of the top-tier prospects will be around when the Falcons are on the clock.

It will be interesting to see how much importance Atlanta puts on addressing this need.
