5. Liverpool demolish Everton in Merseyside derby

The other big game this weekend is the Merseyside derby which sees Everton host Liverpool at Goodison Park. The Toffees haven’t been great this season but would love to put a dent in their city rivals’ title challenge if they could.

Marco Silva’s side showed promise at the start of the season and in some matches they’ve showed their prowess. However, far too often they’ve lacked the free-flowing soccer that Everton fans want to see — especially considering the money spent on players like Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Some were beginning to doubt Liverpool’s title challenge after some lackluster performances but any questions were answered in midweek as Jurgen Klopp’s men destroyed Watford 5-0. The Hornets are a good side and the fact they were taken apart like that shows how good Liverpool can be at times.

Winning matches 5-0 is all fine and well but they need to make sure that they’re turning their gritty draws into gritty wins in order to win the title. This weekend shouldn’t be too much of a problem though as Everton are particularly uninspiring.

“Form goes out the window” is a phrase that is commonly associated with derby matches but for this game that statement will be irrelevant. Liverpool will turn up and play great soccer while Everton will be as inconsistent as they have all season.

That will lead to a humiliating defeat for the Toffees as Liverpool score four and keep their title challenge going.
