Cornerback

On paper, the Los Angeles Rams have a strong starting trio at cornerback. Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib man the outside while Nickell Robey-Coleman works out of the slot. This is a talented trio, but struggled at times last year.

Talib was unable to stay healthy and when he worked his way back into the lineup looked rusty. Peters struggled to adjust to his new surroundings and didn’t look like the same type of player. The Rams desperately need a rebound year from the former star.

Robey-Coleman remains one of the better slot corners in the league and be counted on heavily again this upcoming season. In some sense he is the team’s most valuable defensive back returning.

The NFL Draft might be a great way for the Rams to bring in some depth to the cornerback spot. There are several prospects who could be available late in the first round such as Penn State’s Amani Oruwariye, Georgia’s DeAndre Baker and Washington’s Byron Murphy.

Free Agency offers interesting names like Ronald Darby, Kareem Jackson, Bradley Roby among others. There are enough options for the Rams to find usable depth without using all or most of their cap space.

The Rams need to decide if this need is more about depth or finding some long-term solutions.
