Greg Little, T, Ole Miss

There are clear paths to the NFL from high school. One is to be considered a five star recruit when you enter college. That is what Ole Miss tackle Greg Little was. It is a big reason why entering the season many saw him as a top tackle in this class. Unfortunately Little has done little to improve his game since entering college football. Despite that he was getting round one buzz simply due to his pedigree and apparent athleticism.

That athleticism was only apparent because Little’s performance was not that of an elite athlete for the tackle position. Despite being one of the lighter tackle prospects at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, Little did not post a single metric to register as a plus athlete. His performance was not Orlando Brown but it was not good.

Little ran the 40 in a painfully slow 5.3 seconds, second worst of any offensive lineman. He skipped the bench press. He posted the third worst vertical jump as well. Even the drill where he was not towards the bottom, the 20 yard shuttle, he placed in the 51st percentile for all offensive lineman.

It is clear that this is not an elite athlete playing tackle which is a problem. When you have the issues on film technically that Little does, he would have needed to be an elite athlete to cover those up. With his testing he proved that he is much more of a project than originally thought and could have pushed himself into day two with this performance.
