3. OLB Vincent Rey (Cincinnati Bengals)

Now that general manager John Schneider and the Seahawks have opted to place the franchise tag on defensive end Frank Clark, the possibility remains that the team will allow one of their veteran defenders to test the free agent market. And that’s not even including disgruntled free safety Earl Thomas, who played in only four games for the club before going down for the season.

Meanwhile, the injury bug bit another part of Pete Carroll’s defense in 2018. Veteran outside linebacker K.J. Wright was limited to only five regular-season games as well as the postseason tilt with the Dallas Cowboys in January thanks to knee issues. But his production during his eight-year career in the Pacific Northwest is not to be taken lightly. The 2011 fourth-round pick from Mississippi State started at least a dozen games in each of his first seven NFL campaigns and racked up 100-plus stops in four straight seasons from 2014 through 2017.

If the Seahawks do lose Wright to free agency, could Cincinnati Bengals’ defender Vincent Rey be someone who could fill his cleats? The nine-year pro played in all 16 games this past season but made only two starts. He finished with a mere 19 tackles, his lowest total since his second NFL season in 2011, and unfortunately was a member of the NFL’s worst defense in 2018. But could the former undrafted free agent find new life with a different club?
