2019 NFL Mock Draft: Kyler Murray goes to Cardinals
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals had to wait until after the Super Bowl to name their head coach, as Zac Taylor was busy as the quarterback coach for the Los Angeles Rams. Taylor will be replacing Marvin Lewis after a 16-year run as the team’s head coach, one that netted them a bunch of regular season wins, but not one postseason victory.
In Taylor, the Bengals are hoping they get the next Sean McVay, as he is seen as a disciple of the young head coach who has brought the Rams back to relevancy. Taylor has a lot of work to do in terms of this roster, but it should start on defense, where they may be looking to revamp the linebacker group.
When it comes to the middle linebacker position in this draft class, Devin White is the best of the bunch, and should hear his name called early in round one this April. White is the kind of guy who can play sideline to sideline, and has the kind of football knowledge that you look for in a leader of the defense.
Cincinnati still has a ton of talent on offense, as A.J. Green and Joe Mixon are solid skill guys, and Andy Dalton has been to his fair share of Pro Bowls. The AFC North should be wide open next season, and sometimes, bringing in a new head coach can be the best thing for an organization, especially one starving for a playoff win.
