The Detroit Lions are another team with a lot of work to do  this offseason, as they are coming off a 2018 NFL season that saw them finish last in the NFC North. Detroit has some talent on both sides of the ball, and made a serious run towards the playoffs two years ago, but they took a major step back in 2018.

Heading into the new league year, the team has to figure out what they are going to do with Ezekiel Ansah, who is one of the better edge rushers in the NFC. They were not great with him in the lineup last season, and may decide against spending a ton of money on a guy that did not bring them many wins.

Looking at the roster, Ansah would have to be replaced, and during the NFL combine, Rashan Gary put on a heck of a show in front of the scouts. Gary has the size, speed, and power to be an elite edge rusher at the NFL level, and he proved himself to be one of the more elite defensive players in this draft class last weekend.

Detroit spent a lot of money on quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has still yet to show that he can win big games at the NFL level. They are going to have to tighten their belts elsewhere, and that could mean letting Ansah walk. Gary fits in nicely here, and would be a fan favorite after playing his college ball within the state at Michigan.
