Houston Texans

The Houston Texans are facing the possibility of losing two players who spent a lot of time at safety this past season. Both Tyrann Mathieu and Kareem Jackson are hitting free agency with the chance of finding new homes.

Houston has one of their safety positions locked down by Justin Reid who’s coming off a strong rookie campaign. However, the other spot is up for grabs with Andre Hal the current leader in the clubhouse.

The Texans have their eyes set on making a Super Bowl run and would benefit from bringing in a veteran like Weddle.

He’d be a great mentor for Reid while still bringing plenty of playmaking ability to the field. Weddle has a few years left in the tank and is more than capable of helping this Texans team. Houston also happens to have a decent amount of cap space which puts them in play for Weddle.

This year’s draft class doesn’t have a ton of talent at the safety position. It mainly features mid-round players who have some holes in their game. The Texans do have two second round picks which would be a spot to target a safety.

However, if the team is looking for an instant impact than Weddle is the safer bet.
