Round 4 – Pick 112

Erik McCoy, OL, Texas A&M

This is the rare instance where the mock draft is lagging behind the real draft . Erik McCoy of Texas A&M will be picked much earlier than this, at least that is the sentiment in NFL circles. McCoy is too good of an athlete and on tape to last this deep into the draft. His positional value may push him down boards a bit but not this far.

McCoy would be an ideal fit in Buffalo. The sudden departure of Eric Wood left a massive hole at center. That is the position where the majority of starts came for McCoy with the Aggies. He showed on tape to be a powerful anchor in the run game and excellent feet and lateral mobility in the pass game. He needs to grow and is very young (only 21) but has starting level traits. His tape against Quinnen Williams ( a top five pick) showed that he can play with the best despite a lack of length. Improvements in technique could push him to an elite level at the center position.

Round 4 – Pick 131

Foster Moreau, TE, LSU

Another prospect who is ascending throughout the draft process is LSU tight end Foster Moreau. He benefited a bit by some underwhelming combine performances from tight ends. Moreau did not disappoint in Indianapolis.

Even with less than ideal production for the Tigers, everyone knew Moreau was an athlete. His numbers though painted a picture of someone who looks like a better pro than college player, especially in a more spread out system and better quarterback play. Moreau’s numbers, especially in the agility drills shows he is the modern NFL tight end prototype. His best trait is still his blocking which meshes well with Buffalo’s run heavy offense.

With some time, and the decline of Charles Clay that is coming, Moreau can develop into a starter and a helpful piece of the puzzle for the Bills offense.
