5th Round

Perhaps the player with the strongest draft ties to the Seahawks in 2019 is none other than Kansas defensive tackle Daniel Wise. Wise is the son of Deatrich Wise, Sr., who was a ninth-round pick of the ‘Hawks back in 1988 and the brother of current Patriots defensive lineman Deatrich Wise, Jr.

Wise’s football bloodlines should help his overall stock come draft day, but his play should also put him squarely on the Seattle radar as a potential 3-tech prospect. While he’s a bit light (281 pounds at the Combine), Wise has solid quickness and length to be a disruptive pass rusher on the interior.

Wise posted two consecutive seasons of 10+ tackles for loss in 2017 and 2018, and while his numbers may not jump out in general amidst an excellent defensive line class, it’s more impressive when you consider how barren of a talent landscape the Jayhawks program has been during his time on campus.

A solid week of practice at the Shrine Game helped Wise’s stock and he would represent solid value for Seattle as a Day 3 selection.
