Round 3 – Pick 93

Riley Ridley, WR, Georgia

With a much later pick in the third round, the Jets can stick to offense but go wider than tackle to the wide receiver position. This is one of the deepest receiver class we’ve have ever seen in the draft. A loaded group like this will be seperated by razor thin margins and talented players will be pushed down the board.

A player like Riley Ridley of Georgia fits that bill. Ridley had a weak combine performance in Indianapolis. While he often gets compared to his brother Calvin, a first round pick of the Falcons last year, Riley put up even more pedestrian numbers. Couple that with a lack of college production and you could see a big fall from the former Bulldog.

Ridley does have an intriguing skill set that fits what the Jets need. Their wide receiver room has a speed/deep threat in Robbie Anderson locked up for next year. Big slot and playmaker Quincy  Enunwa is still there as well. There are a few young pieces that can help but overall this position group needs talent. Ridley gives them technician as route runner and a player that can work outside and in.

Ridley may not be a true number one option but can be a useful WR2 on a good team. For Darnold, he and tight end Chris Herndon could turn into safety blankets. Ridley’s excellent route running and hands are a change of pace from Enunwa and Anderson. All three could add to the rotation.
