The Denver Broncos will have a new quarterback in  two days, as their trade with the Baltimore Ravens for Joe Flacco will become official. This past week, the Broncos bid farewell to 2018 starter Case Keenum, sending him to the Washington Redskins, where he will  take over for the injured Alex Smith in 2019.

For Denver, they should still look to  target a quarterback in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and Missouri’s Drew Lock appears to be the one John Elway has his eyes on. Lock is a guy who put up solid numbers in the best conference in college football during his time in the SEC, and could sit behind Flacco for at least a year before being thrown into the fire.

Denver picked up the option on Emmanuel Sanders this week, and they have some solid young weapons in wide receiver Courtland Sutton, and running back Phillip Lindsay. With one of the better defenses in football, there is no reason why the Broncos cannot bounce back in a big way in 2019, as they certainly have the talent to do so.

Elway has to finally get it right in terms of drafting a quarterback, as the Paxton Lynch experiment was a bust, and guys they brought in as free agents did not last either. Lock can be that long-term option at the position that this team has been lacking, and if he has a good Pro Day, you can expect him to be the third quarterback off the board this April.
