Houston. Ed Oliver. 8. player. 50. . Defensive Tackle

The Detroit Lions made a nice move to bolster their defense this week, signing former New England Patriots defensive end Trey Flowers. During his time with the Pats, Flowers established himself as one of the better edge rushers in the league, and will join a Lions team that certainly needs help there.

Staying on that side of the ball, the Lions can now shift their focus to the interior of their defensive line, bringing in a talent like Ed Oliver. His draft stock has taken a bit of a hit as of late, but he is a first round talent, and could go in the top-10.

Heading into  the 2018 college football season, Oliver was considered one of the best prospects in the country in terms of the NFL Draft. An incredibly gifted player, Oliver showed during his first two years at Houston that he can be a nuisance in the backfield, tracking down running backs and quarterbacks.

However, his final season with the Cougars did not go the way he had hoped for, and there were some embarrassing moments along the way. Still, he is a guy who should hear his name called in the first half of the first round this April, and the Detroit Lions could be a nice fit for him. Detroit has paid attention to the defense this offseason, and Oliver would be key at No. 8.
