High Value C

Players costing $6,667 or under

Steven Adams (vs MIA – $6,400): Needs 28.5 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 28.3 fantasy points against Golden State. Adams hasn’t been great in recent contests but he’s settled at a nice salary and with Westbrook out of the lineup, Adams should find himself coming into more rebounds and seeing more offensive opportunities. He typically plays well against Whiteside (though it’s not like Whiteside is playing many minutes) and the circumstances are great with Westbrook’s suspension. If nothing else, he’ll get you value. But expect more. Diagnosis: Very reliable with a good ceiling.

Jakob Poeltl (vs GS – $5,300): Needs 23.6 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 30.7 fantasy points against Portland. Poeltl has been excellent recently for the Spurs, making the most of his role as the starter. He’ll have an easier time of things if Cousins doesn’t end up playing for the Warriors. But he’s been playing so well as of late that even if Cousins plays, Poeltl should have enough of an impact to at least give you value. Diagnosis: Reliable with a good ceiling.

Kevon Looney (at SA – $3,500): Needs 15.6 fantasy points. LAST GAME – 5.4 fantasy points against Oklahoma City. This all depends on the status of DeMarcus Cousins. If Cousins is unable to play and Looney draws the start, you can take him with confidence. He’s averaging 21.5 fantasy points in 24 games as a starter in this season and shown a high ceiling. He’s not going to hurt you at this salary and has big opportunity to deliver if he ends up as the starter due to Cousins’ injury. Diagnosis: Reliable with a high ceiling.
