3. North Carolina

It shouldn’t be a shock that the ACC has a third team on this list, but North Carolina is among the top threats to claim a national championship. The Tar Heels didn’t claim either the regular season title or conference tournament, but that doesn’t diminish how dangerous North Carolina will be in March.

Between experienced veterans in Luke Maye and Cameron Johnson, a dynamic freshman in Coby White, and a Hall of Fame coach in Roy Williams the Tar Heels have everything they need to go deep. Williams has taken the Tar Heels to the Sweet 16 on nine separate occasions since taking over in 2003, so he has a history of getting North Carolina far in March.

North Carolina earned a no. 1 seed in the Midwest region, setting them up for a winnable game against Iona before a second round game against the winner of the 8-9 matchup between Utah State and Washington. That game won’t be easy, but North Carolina is simply too deep and too talented to get bounced early.
