March Madness 2019: 10 teams that will bust your bracket
No. 6: Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin navigated a tough Big Ten Conference this season, and finished up with a fourth-place ranking in what turned out to be a self-destructive conference, in which power teams were often upset. Wisconsin came in at No. 52 in the KenPom rankings for adjusted offense, and that number goes down even farther when star big man Ethan Happ is contained (which is a tough order).
Wisconsin was beaten by teams like Indiana and Maryland during Big Ten season to add to a bad loss on the road to Western Kentucky back in December. The Badgers drew up a tough team with plenty of young talent in the Oregon Ducks despite losing center Bol Bol in the early stages of the season.
They finished the season at 23-12, and arguably have the home court advantage heading into this game against Wisconsin, which will be held in San Jose, California.
If the Ducks, or any team along the stretch, can contain top scorers in Ethan Happ, D’Mitrik Trice and Brad Davison, and cause any combination of the two of them to go through a rough scoring night, the opportunity will be grand for an upset of the No. 5 Badgers. It won’t be an easy road for the Badgers in their current region, which contains Virginia, Tennessee, Purdue and others. Don’t bet on them to make it too deep in Ethan Happ’s last season.
