2019 NFL mock draft: Giants trade up for Dwayne Haskins
By Brad Weiss
The Oakland Raiders will pick at No. 24 in the first round this April, thanks to the trade they made with the Chicago Bears in exchange for elite edge rusher Khalil Mack. While Mack helped the Bears to the NFC North title in year one in the Windy City, the haul the team got back from him was a big one, and should pay dividends in 2019.
With that No. 24 pick, Oakland should look to bring in an edge rusher, and Clelin Ferrell from Clemson may be the guy who fits their scheme the best. As it stands, the team only has second-year player Arden Key, and veteran Josh Mauro at the defensive end position right now, so utilizing a first rounder on the position is a must.
During his time at Clemson, Ferrell helped lead the team to two national titles, and was a dominant presence against Alabama back in January against an elite offensive line. He just does so many things right in terms of getting after the quarterback, and would be an incredible addition to a Raiders defensive line that should be improved in 2019.
Oakland has done a nice job adding to their roster via trades, and in free agency already this offseason, but hitting a home run in the draft is a must. Mike Mayock is a former draft analyst, and has shined in his first season as the team’s general manager, but his best work may be ahead of him at the end of April.
