2019 NFL mock draft: Giants trade up for Dwayne Haskins
By Brad Weiss
The Oakland Raiders move back two spots in our latest mock draft, as they traded with the New York Giants for their No. 6 overall pick, and a second rounder. There are plenty of holes on this Raiders roster to fill, and while they have done a nice job filling some of them via trades, and free agency already, a bunch still remain.
One big one is in the middle of their defense, as they have no real answer as to who will play middle linebacker for them next season. This is a position of utmost importance in Paul Guenther’s 4-3 scheme, so adding a talented player with the No. 6 overall pick that plays the position would be a great get for the Silver and Black.
The best middle linebacker in this draft class is Devin White, who starred the last couple of seasons for the LSU Tigers. An incredibly fast linebacker, and a guy who can play sideline to sideline, White would instantly make this Raiders linebacker group better, teaming with guys like Tahir Whitehead to give Oakland a solid unit in 2019.
The Raiders have made a couple of big splashes already this offseason, so it would not surprise anybody if they were involved in a trade at the top of the draft. Heck, they could even move up to No. 2 or 3, as they have a desperate need for an edge rusher, and may want to add either Nick Bosa or Josh Allen with their first pick this April.
