32. Richard Pitino, Minnesota

The son of legendary coach Rick Pitino, Richard Pitino is starting to carve out his own legacy at Minnesota. The Golden Gophers have made the NCAA Tournament in two of the past three years and are doing just fine in a brutally competitive Big Ten.

31. Kermit Davis, Ole Miss

Similar to Byrd, Kermit Davis had become identifiable with Middle Tennessee State, where he went 332-188 for the Blue Raiders. The highlight of Davis’ tenure at Middle Tennessee was consecutive trips to the Round of 32 in 2016 and 2017, with the former including a memorable upset of Michigan State as a 15-seed. Ole Miss hired Davis this year, and he went 20-12 to help the Rebels return to the dance for the first time since 2015.

30. Randy Bennett, Saint Mary’s

Even though the West Coast Conference is best known for being the land of Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s has had a quietly good run under Randy Bennett. The Gaels have made 12 straight postseason appearances, including six appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

29. Steve Prohm, Iowa State

After a strong four-year run at Murray State, Prohm took over at Iowa State after Fred Hoiberg bolted for the NBA. Prohm has helped Cyclones’ fans forget about the Mayor, winning the Big 12 Tournament twice in three years and getting to the Sweet 16 in his first year at the helm.
