52. Travis DeCuire, Montana

There is a theme on this part of the list, which features young coaches who are building their reputations at mid-major programs. DeCuire certainly fits the bill after taking the Grizzlies to four postseason appearances in five years, including two straight trips to March Madness after consecutive 26-win seasons in the Big Sky Conference.

51. John Becker, Vermont

Becker has put together a very nice run at Vermont, compiling a 193-89 record since he arrived in 2011. The Catamounts have qualified for a postseason tournament every year he’s been at the helm, including three appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

50. Chris Jans, New Mexico State

Jans hasn’t been at the Division I level for a long time, but he dominated the junior college ranks to earn a shot at Bowling Green, which he parlayed into a job at New Mexico State. The Aggies have gone 58-10 since Jans took over, winning consecutive WAC Tournament titles, and are a dangerous 12-seed in this year’s tournament.

49. Nate Oats, Buffalo

After succeeding Bobby Hurley at Buffalo, Oats has maintained the Bulls’ electrifying run atop the MAC, going 95-42 over the past four years to earn three trips to the NCAA Tournament. The highlight of Oats’ tenure was Buffalo’s upset over Arizona in the first round last season, a win that busted a ton of brackets.
