Saint Johns Red Storm – J. Cole
J. Cole (Class of ’07) is the hottest hip hop artist in music, fresh off his performance at the NBA All-Star game. J. Cole has released four certified platinum records. Two of his records have been number one on the Billboard top 100. The rapper started his own record label called Dreamville Records, which he releases all of his albums on.
Saint Louis Billikens – James Gunn
James Gunn (Class of ’88) is an American filmmaker. The filmmaker is also a writer and has written the scripts for both Scooby Doo movies. He has written and directed both Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Along with his writing and directing, Gunn is also a successful musician and has written music that has been featured in his movies.
Saint Mary’s Gaels – Matthew Dellavedova
The second active NBA player came to St. Mary’s by way of Australia. Matthew Dellavedova (Class of ’13) is an NBA champion as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Australian hooper may not score a ton of points but he is a great defender and tough. After the NBA title, Dellavedova earned a $38 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bucks traded the Australian back to the Cavaliers at the start of the 2018 season.
Seton Hall Pirates – Dick Vitale
Dick Vitale (Class of ’63) is the voice of college basketball. He is the master of catchphrases, coining “Diaper Dandy,” “PTP’er”, and “Yeah, Baby.” Love Vitale or hate him, he has shown he is knowledgeable about the sport. When he is broadcasting a game, he lets his genuine love of the game shine through and makes broadcasts enjoyable.
