The South Carolina Gamecocks came into the season with some question marks around their pitching. While they played well before the SEC portion of the schedule began, there wasn’t enough meat on the schedule to be confident the Gamecocks would be able to carry that momentum against other SEC baseball teams. After getting swept against Georgia this past weekend, there’s still plenty to be concerned about in regards to the Gamecocks.

For the Tennessee Volunteers, there was no doubt they could pitch. The Vols shut out six of their opponents entering the first week of conference play. The question was whether or not they would produce enough offense against other SEC baseball teams. Scoring just five runs against the Auburn Tigers, they might not be able to.

The Ole Miss Rebels can hit the baseball and score as well as any team in the country. The question surrounding the Rebels in the offseason would be if they would get enough pitching to make a decent postseason run after losing their entire weekend rotation. Outside Will Ethridge, we still don’t know the answer to this question.
