Round 1 – Pick

Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State

On paper, the Titans’ receiving corps looks plenty talented. Former top-five pick Corey Davis has star potential. In the slot Adam Humphries joins Taywan Taylor to give them a formidable duo on the inside. What they are lacking is a player opposite Davis that can win on the outside. The signing of Humphries is not enough to get them away from receiver early. That is even more true if the top of the edge rusher class is picked clean, like it was with this mock draft.

Tennessee would love a player like Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler. While Davis is a solid all-around player, Butler provides the size and playmaking ability of a true No. 1 wide receiver. He is an alpha at the position while being able to dominate in a way no other player on the Titans roster can.

The Titans need to get weapons around Mariota to see if he can prove that he is anything more than average. Even if he lays another dud and the team is ready to move on, this gives the next quarterback in line another weapon. Tennessee could go in other directions as well. As previously mentioned, an edge rusher like Clelin Ferrell, if available, makes a ton of sense. Either of the Iowa tight ends could be a target for them as an eventual replacement for Delanie Walker. Interior defensive line could be also a priority with Jurrell Casey approaching 30 and few options alongside him. However, the talent of Butler was too good to pass up.
