3. Dwayne Haskins

Dwayne Haskins isn’t the most dynamic quarterback in this draft class, but he can make all the throws from the pocket. That’s exactly what Arians wants to see out of his signal-caller. The chance of Tampa Bay’s new head coach falling in love with the Ohio State product definitely exists.

Coming out of his recent pro day, Haskins’ stock is definitely on the rise. Numerous observers were impressed with how much he’d improved his body since the combine. Slimming down allowed Haskins to make better throws on the run. That was a real weakness for him at Ohio State.

Even if the Buccaneers do take Haskins at No. 5 it doesn’t mean that Winston wouldn’t begin the regular season as the team’s starter. Letting Haskins sit back and learn for a few weeks would help him get his feet underneath him. He’s not a player who will benefit from being thrown directly into the fire.

Whether or not the Buccaneers draft Haskins here is a question of value. If they believe he’s a future Pro Bowler, then Arians will snap him up. If they think he just projects to be an above-average starter, they’ll use this pick to fill another big need.
