Round 4: Daylon Mack

Mack is a guy who also was featured in this spot during our initial draft piece. The logic remains the same for the Cowboys. Neither Tyrone Crawford or Maliek Collins is a great answer at the defensive tackle position. At the very least, Dallas needs to come out of this draft with another guy they can insert into that rotation.

The former Texas A&M product is never going to be an elite pass rusher. The Cowboys should look elsewhere to find a guy who can collapse the pocket on passing downs.

What Mack can do with real effectiveness is plug up the middle against the run. He checked in at 6-foot-1, 336 pounds at the Combine. Posting a 40-yard dash time of 5.1 at that size is going to get him a lot of second looks from NFL scouts.

The Cowboys would be wise to remember that Round 4 isn’t the place to take big swings. Finding a guy who can play meaningful snaps next season at this point in the draft would be a solid win for the front office. Dallas needs to come out of the draft with a quality defensive tackle, and Mack can develop into a solid starter in time.
