Round 2 – No Pick

This was one of the two picks that the Rams sent to the Kansas City Chiefs for corner Marcus Peters.

Round 3 – Pick 94

Bobby Okereke, LB, Stanford

A big riser in the draft process has been Stanford’s Bobby Okereke. This linebacker class is starved for players to jump up the board. That is why Minnesota’s Blake Cashman is getting a ton of love on draft sites as of late. Okereke is starting to join that hype train as well.

As the NFL evolves into more of a space game players like Okereke can shine. He is not the biggest prospect which causes him to get lost in the shuffle a bit during run fills. What he does well though is provide excellent range and burst to go sideline to sideline. Playing behind an elite defensive line would help him excel and he would in Los Angeles.

The mental game is still a work in progress which would make Wade Phillips an excellent coach for Okereke. He could be the replacement Los Angeles needs for Mark Barron. The linebackers on the roster simply are getting the job done on a high level. Okereke could come in and command the middle of the defense and grow into an every-down player.

One interesting note about Okereke is who Mockdraftable compares him to. According to that site his testing and size is the closest to last year’s defensive rookie of the year Darius Leonard. Okereke would need to make massive improvements to hit that lofty expectation but it points to how both are tailor made to play in today’s NFL.
