2019 NFL Draft: Los Angeles Rams 7-round mock
By Joe Romano
Round 4 – Pick 133
Tyler Roemer, OT, San Diego State
At some point in this draft the Rams need to think about addressing the offensive line. Unfortunately at this stage in this mock draft there was little left to pick from in terms of interior offensive lineman. The group was picked clean because of how shallow the class is as a whole. Instead Los Angeles could target a player to groom at offensive tackle.
San Diego State’s Tyler Roemer would make an excellent fit. Roemer is a player that needs to have good coaching around him. He was essentially kicked out of the San Diego State program which led him to enter the draft. On the field he is an effortless mover who is long and strong. He possesses starter traits at offensive tackle. Getting him into an NFL locker room with the right players around him is going to be huge. There is little doubt that he has the talent to play as a starter. Scouts and people with knowledge are worried his immaturity is his biggest detriment to NFL success.
Los Angeles has proven they will take on players who have trouble off the field. We’ve yet to see it backfire on them. Bringing Roemer in, letting him work with the consummate professional Andrew Whitworth would do wonders for the guy. Then when Whitworth hangs it up next year Roemer can step in and take over. This is an ideal situation and Roemer would be a great player to fill that role for the Rams.
