10 greatest opening matches in WrestleMania history
3. Mr. Kennedy vs Edge vs Randy Orton vs Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy vs CM Punk vs Booker T vs Finlay (WrestleMania 23)
The Money in the Bank ladder match was a WrestleMania tradition between WrestleMania 21 and WrestleMania 26 before the concept became its own pay-per-view. WrestleMania 23 gave us the best opening ladder match and arguably the greatest Money in the Bank ladder match in general. The match featured a hit list of current legends like CM Punk, Randy Orton, Edge, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Booker T and Finlay.
One thing that makes it less memorable is that the only guy that did not become a legend won the match. Mr. Kennedy was red hot at the time and appeared to be a future world champion. WWE would give him the major win over the top stars, but an injury forced him to give up the title shot to Edge later in the year. This match was nearly flawless with everyone getting to showcase their skills.
Orton delivered incredible RKOs on everyone. The Hardy Boyz showed off their classic ladder match moves. Edge left with an injury to keep his undefeated WrestleMania streak alive for another year. Punk had a strong performance that proved he could hang with the elite stars of WWE. This was the perfect multi-man ladder match to start WrestleMania 23 off in ideal fashion.
