The Denver Broncos made a splash before the new league year even began, as they agreed with the Baltimore Ravens on a trade for starting quarterback Joe Flacco. Flacco had become expendable in Charm City due to the fact rookie Lamar Jackson stepped in and played very well for the team when he went down due to injury.

Looking ahead, Flacco will be the starter in Denver in 2019, especially after the team traded away Case Keenum to the Washington Redskins after only one year under center for the Broncos. Flacco is a former Super Bowl MVP, but some have to wonder whether his best days are behind him, so the Broncos are certainly in play for a quarterback in April.

Drew Lock from Missouri is a first round talent, and should be the third quarterback off the board behind Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins. Lock played well down the stretch for Missouri this past season, and it appears that John Elway really likes him, which is really the only opinion that matters in Denver.

The Broncos have some solid weapons on offense in Phillip Lindsay and Courtland Sutton, two guys who played very well as rookies last season. Drafting Lock and having him sit behind Flacco for a year makes sense, and in a year or two, this Broncos offense could really be one to keep an eye on in the AFC West.
