2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins go early
By Brad Weiss
The Los Angeles Chargers are a team that should be right in the mix next season, as they have dominant players on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Philip Rivers has dipped his toes in the Fountain of Youth, and based on the weapons around him, he should be in for another big season in 2019.
On the defensive side of the ball, Los Angeles has some elite edge rushers in Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, and hit a home run with first round safety Derwin James in 2018. That is a pretty impressive collection of talent, but in the interior of the defensive line, they could still use some reinforcements.
Enter Jerry Tillery, who dominated during his time at Notre Dame, and would be an outstanding fit along this Chargers defensive line in 2019. Los Angeles posted a 12-4 record last season, the best mark in the AFC, but settled for a Wild Card spot due to the fact the Kansas City Chiefs had the same record and owned the tiebreaker.
That Chiefs team was built around Patrick Mahomes, and if the Chargers want to dethrone KC in the AFC West, they have to get more pressure in his face. Tillery is a guy who could help them do that in 2019, and with such talent on the edges, this Chargers front could be one of the best in football next season.
