Deandre Baker. 29. player. 124. . Cornerback. Georgia

The Kansas City Chiefs have tried to rebuild their defense this offseason, this after being one of the worst groups in the NFL last season. In fact, had their defense come to play in the playoffs, they likely would have made it to the Super Bowl, as their offense was downright historic last season.

Looking ahead to next season, guys like Justin Houston, Eric Berry, and Dee Ford are all gone, so this Chiefs defense will look a lot different in 2019. In the secondary, the team needs help, especially at cornerback, where they added a nice piece in Bashaud Breeland earlier this month, but still need bodies.

Out of all the cornerback prospects in this year’s draft class, few stand out as first round talents. One of those players is Deandre Baker from Georgia, who has the talent to start in year one at the NFL level, and would slide in at least a nickel corner alongside Breeland and Kendall Fuller in the Chiefs secondary.

Second-year starter Patrick Mahomes is coming off an MVP season in his first year as a starter, and the Chiefs have been the class of the AFC West the last three years. With added weapons on defense, Kansas City is more than qualified to make it four in a row in 2019, but this team will only go as far as the defense will take them.
