2019 NFL mock draft: Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins go early
By Brad Weiss
The Oakland Raiders currently hold the No. 4 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, but all of that could change as we inch closer to the end of April. The Raiders have a lot of holes to fill on their roster, and if they trade with the New York Giants, they could net not only the No. 6 overall pick, but possibly a second round pick as well.
If the Giants do trade up to No. 4, they are doing it for only one reason, and that reason is Dwayne Haskins of Ohio State. Haskins comes into the 2019 NFL Draft after throwing for over 50 touchdowns in his first season as the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes, a season that saw him lead the team to a Rose Bowl victory.
New York has been mum on how they feel about Haskins, as the organization has continued to say that Eli Manning has good football left in him. However, after passing on a quarterback during the 2018 NFL Draft, New York cannot afford to do so again, and Haskins is the second-best quarterback in this year’s draft class.
Manning did put together good stats last season, but this team has failed to win games on a consistent basis, and his time as the starter has to be coming to an end. They have made some shocking moves this offseaosn, including trading away Olivier Vernon and Odell Beckham Jr., while letting Landon Collins walk in free agency, so they are obviously rebuilding.
