1. Power

The Yankees set the record for most home runs by a team in a single season last year when they mashed 267 dingers. Most teams would be satisfied to repeat that sort of performance. The Yankees aren’t most teams.

Instead, Aaron Judge insists his squad is ready to “crush” that record in 2019. If that happens, this offense could be one of the best in MLB history. Judge’s prediction isn’t all that crazy either, there are several good reasons to think New York will hit more home runs this season.

Obviously, if Judge enjoys a healthier season his production should increase. He hit 27 home runs in 112 games last season. One year before the Yankees slugger mashed 52 home runs in 152 games. If Judge stays healthy, he could see his number of home runs double.

Giancarlo Stanton actually led the team with 38 home runs, but he should feel more comfortable in his second season with the team. Don’t be surprised to see his total jump up to something close to the 59 home runs he hit with the Marlins in 2017.

Young players like Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres should continue to find more and more power as they grow accustomed to life in the big leagues as well. A full season of production from Luke Voit and/or Greg Bird could also boost the number.

Even if the Yankees don’t break their own home run record, they’re going to hit the ball with real authority this season. When they win the World Series it will be on the back of their powerful offense.
