Best and worst case scenario for every MLB team in 2019
By Brad Weiss
Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox were the kings of Major League Baseball last season, as they won the World Series in five games over the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was manager Alex Cora’s first season at the helm, and he pushed all the right buttons, as the team won over 100 games, and steamrolled through the playoffs.
Heading into 2019, the Red Sox are loaded once again, and have one of the best lineups in baseball. They boast one of the best outfields in baseball, as Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Andrew Benintendi can make things happen at the plate, and in the field, and the pitching staff, led by Chris Sale, is one of the deepest in baseball. This is a team that could win 100 games again in 2019.
Best case scenario
The best case scenario for the Boston Red Sox this season is a return trip to the World Series, and winning their second ring in as many years. This is a team that did not take a step back this offseason, and while they will be in a battle with the New York Yankees all season long, many feel they have the best roster in all of baseball heading into Opening Day.
Worst case scenario
If the Yankees can stay healthy, they are going to be in this thing all season long, which could spell trouble for the Red Sox down the stretch. Still, the worst case scenario for a team this talented is making it to the playoffs as only a Wild Card team, where there is always the chance you could be bounced out of the playoffs in a one-game series.
