Best and worst case scenario for every MLB team in 2019
By Brad Weiss
Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox were pretty busy this offseason, as they were rumored to be in the market for both Manny Machado and Bryce Harper. However, they ended up getting the short end of the stick, as they could not find a way to sign either superstar, and now head into the 2019 season as one of the worst teams in baseball.
There are some good things about this team, as they have some good young players, but this is a team that is going to struggle to put wins together on a consistent basis this season. Eloy Jimenez is only 22-years old, and has superstar written all over him, but this will be his first season in the big leagues, and cannot be expected to carry this lineup just yet.
Best case scenario
The AL Central saw only one team finish with a winning record last season, as the Cleveland Indians once again won the division title. In 2019, the Indians should be loaded again, but the White Sox won’t be as bad as they were last season, and losing 100 games is out of the question. If they can inch to that .500 mark, it will be a win for this franchise.
Worst case scenario
Back-to-back 100-loss seasons are never a good thing, but it is possible that the White Sox could pull off that feat this summer. This is a team that is not built to win right now, and if they go on a terrible stretch during the summer, they could challenge for the worst record in baseball. However, good things are on the horizon for this franchise.
