Best and worst case scenario for every MLB team in 2019
By Brad Weiss
Toronto Blue Jays
It was another rough season for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2018, as they finished with a 73-89 record, and second-to-last in the AL East. Toronto could just never get it going, and had the Baltimore Orioles not been the worst team in baseball, they could have easily found themselves looking up at the entire division.
This season, the rotation will once again be led by Marcus Stroman, who is one of the more fiery right-handed starting pitchers in all of baseball. Toronto should get good power numbers from first baseman Justin Smoak, and of course, they have Vladimir Guerrero Jr. just waiting to make his Major League debut at some point this season.
Best case scenario
Somehow the Blue Jays can make a run like the Tampa Bay Rays did last season, and stay in the hunt for a Wild Card. If Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is as good as advertised, the Blue Jays have their star for the next 15 years, and building the franchise around him should make this team a contender in the AL East before too long.
Worst case scenario
The Blue Jays are actually worse than expected, and finish behind the Baltimore Orioles in last place in the AL East. This team has fallen on hard times since going to back-to-back American League Championship Series in 2015 and 2016, and it looks like it will be another rough season north of the border in 2019.
