Best and worst case scenario for every MLB team in 2019
By Brad Weiss
Baltimore Orioles
During the 2018 MLB season, the Baltimore Orioles were an absolute joke, winning only 47 games, and finishing dead last in the AL East. The bad season led to the firing of Buck Showalter, who managed the team with class, and dignity despite the fact that his tenure with organization ended with such an embarrassing season.
When it comes to this year’s team, there is going to be a lot more losing, although the fans in Charm City will get to see some of the young players that should be the backbone of this franchise for years to come. The rotation is okay up front with Alex Cobb, who is currently injured, Dylan Bundy, and Andrew Cashner, but this team has so many question marks, including the highly-paid Chris Davis.
Best case scenario
For Baltimore, the wins will be hard to come by this season, but the hope is that they can at least play the role of spoiler down the stretch. They have so many young players that they would like to see improvement from in 2019, and that should be the main focus of manager Brandon Hyde in his first season on the job. If this team can not lose 100 games, that would be considered a victory.
Worst case scenario
The worst case scenario for the Orioles is that they not only lose 100 games again, but they fail to see any growth from their young players. This is an organization that has so many holes right now, and playing in one of the best divisions in baseball certainly does not help. The Orioles are going to be historically bad in 2019.
