3. Arsenal move up to third with win over Newcastle

Arsenal were always going to be a bit of an unpredictable side this season after Arsene Wenger’s departure. The Frenchman was in charge for so long that you could almost tell what was going to happen to them every season.

Under Unai Emery’s guidance the Gunners are probably in one of the best positions they’ve been in for a long time. They’ve remained competitive in the top four race while also progressing through the Europa League knockout stages, where they’ll play Napoli in the quarterfinals.

No Arsenal fans thought Emery was going to come in and win them the league but they might not have expected him to do as well as this either. This weekend, if results go their way, Arsenal could be third in the league with a real chance of finishing there at the end of the season.

The London side close out this weekend’s Premier League matches as they host Newcastle on Monday. Newcastle have looked much more competitive of late but Arsenal should have too much for them going forward.

The Magpies will look to defend and play on the counter which they’ve done effectively away to the likes of Wolves and Tottenham. This game plan could be hard to implement, though, as Arsenal have only conceded once in their last five home games.

Arsenal will grab a couple of goals in the first half and an early goal in the second which will put the game out of reach of Newcastle. If Tottenham don’t win at Liverpool on Sunday then this means the Gunners can leapfrog their great rivals into third place with a win.
