Green Bay Packers full 2019 NFL mock draft
By Conor Dorney
Tight end figures to be one position that the Packers will address early on and while players like Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson are possibilities in the first round, the team could also turn to a player like Texas A&M’s Jace Sternberger on Day 2.
Despite playing just one full season at the college level, Sternberger (6-foot-4, 251 pounds) has seen his stock skyrocket during the draft process. His one season with the Aggies was certainly a productive one, as he was named the team’s Offensive MVP while catching 48 passes for over 800 yards and ten touchdowns.
Sternberger doesn’t offer much in the way of in-line blocking but is extremely capable as a receiver. He runs crisp routes and has the athleticism to offer mismatches against opposing linebackers in coverage. Had he had more tape, there’s a chance we’d be talking about him as a first-round selection, which really goes to show how impressive this one season was.
With Jimmy Graham coming off a disappointing season and already on the wrong side of 30, Sternberger would be a great piece to add to LaFleur’s offense.
