4. Kansas City Chiefs

As they await a resolution to Tyreek Hill’s off-field issues, the Chiefs sit in a bit of limbo. Add in Sammy Watkins confirming he’s at best a No. 2 wide receiver with a No. 1 receiver’s salary, while lingering as a candidate to be cut after the 2019 season, there’s a case to consider making a trade for Green.

Kansas City’s wide receiver depth was depleted by the free agent departure of Chris Conley. Demarcus Robinson has shown some promise and would be the No. 3 wide receiver if the season started today, but after that the depth chart gets ugly very quickly (Gehrig Dieter, Marcus Kemp, Byron Pringle, Sammie Coates).

While Patrick Mahomes is still on his rookie contract, the Chiefs have to be all-in to win for a short window and they can take on Green’s cap hit for this year. It’s unclear if Hill’s status, up to and including a suspension from the league, will be resolved by the time the draft starts. But if the Chiefs have an idea what to expect, perhaps before the public knows, a move to give up a draft pick or two for Green would stand as a sign that Hill won’t be available for at least part of the 2019 campaign.
